Chuck   plays the baritone sax in The Otsego Jazz Ensemble, which has been quite active in recent years.   They were privileged to again co-host the Western Michigan Big Band Festival on March 8, 1996.

Here is the band on a gig (No, not in a circus!).   That's Chuck waving (well, he's not really waving, he's "directing").

Parker Abex NWL

Chuck was a Structural Methods Specialist at Parker Abex NWL Aerospace for 22 years.   During one of his projects, he developed a PTC Pro/Mechanica Motion dynamic simulation model of an airplane hydraulic pump rotating group.   The goal was to fully understand and predict all of the forces that develop as the pump spins at high speed.   The picture below is an animated gif file showing the pistons and barrel spinning.

Chuck also does finite element analysis using PTC Pro/Mechanica Structure, PATRAN/ADVANCED FEA, and MSC/NASTRAN.   Many of his previous analyses included material and geometric nonlinear effects, and some focused on harmonic and random dynamic response of hydraulic actuators and missile substructures.
